University of Illinois Seeks ‘Innovation Enthusiasts’ to Join Commercialization Team
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois) is widely recognized for its innovative model of
technology commercialization. We have openings in our commercialization team at the Office of

Do you want to be part of a vibrant technology transfer environment? The Office of Technology
Management (OTM) has in the last 5 years licensed to 34 start-up companies, written 255 licenses and
options, and received over 900 invention disclosures. We have a growing portfolio of technologies to get
into the marketplace across a broad range of scientific disciplines.
We are at the forefront of creative marketing efforts that allow us to travel across the country and around
the world, developing relations with industry partners and licensing cool Illinois technologies.
We have an entrepreneurial campus environment, a strong infrastructure to support commercialization,
including our 43,000 sq ft incubator EnterpriseWork and IllinoisVENTURES, a start-up services and
venture capital company that has already invested $19M and leveraged over $170M in third party funding
for start-up companies.
About the positions
We have 3 Technology Manager positions available and are looking for applicants at all levels of
technology transfer experience. You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, marketing and
licensing technologies from a range of research disciplines. If you are fanatical about commercialization
and seeing cool technologies taken to market then we want you. We have a strong system of resources
to support your commercialization efforts.
Qualifications for the positions in addition to a burning desire to make a difference include: Bachelor’s
degree required; advanced degree preferred; experience in technology transfer and license negotiations
preferred; scientific background preferred; excellent oral and written communication skills; the judgment
to handle complex inter-organizational issues; ability to work in a high-activity environment while
managing multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of intellectual property law is also desirable.
You will be paid a competitive salary commensurate with experience. We’d like you to start as soon as
possible after the closing date. These are full-time 12-month Academic Professional, benefits eligible
